Shared noteFRANK AUGUSTUS BELL was born on 5 July 1849 at St James, Westminster, London, to Edward Bell and Charlotte
Augusta Woodmore who were living in Berwick Street at the time. Frank came from a family of boys, his brothers being:
Edward Toy, Charles Frederick, and Byron Walter. Soon after his birth, the family moved to the village of Whitton in south west
London in what is now the Borough of Richmond on Thames. By 1861 Frank and his family had moved to Chelsea where it is
likely that he first met Ann.
The 1871 census referred to Frank as formerly in the Royal Navy, and living at Coleshill Street, St George Hanover Square. No
further information is known about this.
Frank married Ann Roydhouse at St Saviour's Church, Lambeth, London, on 13 April 1878. At the time of his marriage he
was living in Cambria Terrace in Camberwell.
Frank and Ann lived first in the Camberwell area of London where Vernon and Amy were born. It is likely that after marrying,
Frank and Ann lived in Frank's lodgings in Cambria Terrace before moving to Herne Hill Road in neighbouring Brixton.
